Diplomatic patronage

1. Council of Patrons

The institution's highest-profile body: ambassadors of OIC member countries accredited to Kenya, chaired by the seniormost-ranking member of that diplomatic corps by order of precedence (the doyen of the OIC missions accredited to Kenya), so the chair passes with seniority rather than being fixed to one country. The Council of Patrons provides diplomatic patronage, convening power, and government-facing credibility for ICCDK.

2. General Assembly

The General Assembly is ICCDK's constitutionally sovereign organ. It retains authority over constitutional amendments, annual accountability review, approval of audited financial statements, approval of strategic direction, and dissolution or transformation matters.

3. Board of Directors

The Board comprises seven to eleven directors serving staggered six-year terms, capped at two terms each. Directors collectively cover governance, legal, finance, trade, halal and standards, Islamic finance, regional growth, county linkage, public affairs, and digital operations. The Board governs; it does not manage day to day.

Sector-facing councils

4. Sectoral Committees

Under the Board's authority to establish sector councils, ICCDK convenes a sectoral committee for each identified priority sector. Each committee feeds sector intelligence, standards readiness, and advocacy priorities into the relevant Board committee — chiefly Trade, Investment and Market Access, and Halal Standards and Certification Liaison.

Sharia Advisory Board

5. Sharia Council

The Sharia Council acts as ICCDK's Sharia Advisory Board. It vets every product and service that requires Sharia approval before ICCDK accreditation — both for the Kenyan mass market and for export to OIC member states — operating under Halal Certification and Certificate of Origin trade rules. Its role is advisory but authoritative on ethical and Sharia classification matters, documented, and independent from commercial pressure.

6. Secretary General & Secretariat

The Secretary General is ICCDK's administrative and executive head, leading the Secretariat, staff, budgets, member services, and day-to-day delivery. The Board governs; the Secretary General executes and reports to the Board at every ordinary meeting.
