ICCDK Formally Joins the ICCD Global Network

The Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Kenya (ICCDK) marked a significant institutional milestone in its relationship with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) Global, the private-sector chamber network representing member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). On 14 August 2025, ICCD and ICCDK signed a Letter of Intent at an event hosted by the Muslim Trade Forum (MTF) in London, United Kingdom, setting out a shared ambition to deepen economic integration between Kenya and the wider ICCD-linked network and to advance cooperation across trade, the halal economy, and Islamic finance. That intent carried forward into 2026. ICCD's Makkah Halal Forum, held in mid-February 2026 at the Makkah Chamber Exhibitions and Events Center, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and chamber representatives from across the Islamic world under the theme "Halal: A Professional Industry." The 41st General Assembly Meeting of ICCD convened in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on 16 February 2026, with the participation of presidents and high-level representatives from Islamic chambers of commerce across 24 countries. It was against this backdrop that ICCDK's affiliation with ICCD Global progressed to formal membership. ICCDK's institutional record cites its admission as an ICCD Global affiliated member from Kenya under Resolution 41-7-7 of the 41st ICCD General Assembly — the same session convened in Makkah. For ICCDK, formal affiliation with ICCD Global provides a structured platform to connect Kenyan businesses into ICCD's broader ecosystem — 57 member countries and affiliated institutions spanning halal certification, trade facilitation, standards, arbitration, and Islamic finance — and into a growing calendar of forums and trade missions across the OIC world. ICCDK's own Nairobi Halal Reception, held later in 2026, builds directly on this affiliation, bringing ICCD Global's leadership to Kenya to engage directly with the local halal economy, business community, and government.
